# Interamnia

*In the Solar System*

The fifth-largest asteroid, here for its size and for very little else that is known: no spacecraft has been to it, it has no moon, and even its shape had to be worked out from how starlight blinks off when it passes in front of one. It is dark, carbon-rich and about a third the width of Ceres.

| Radius | 166 km |
| Around the equator | 1,043 km |
| From the Sun | 502,232,840 km (-160,967 km/d) |
| From the Earth | 556,090,170 km (+1,683,454 km/d) |
| A signal takes | 31 min |

Distances and speed are computed from JPL Horizons trajectories and are true of 2026-09-05, changing at the rate given beside each. The interpolation itself is good to a few kilometres; what ages these figures is the date, not the arithmetic.
