# Mars

*In the Solar System*

Half the Earth's width and a tenth of its mass, with a thin carbon-dioxide atmosphere at about a hundredth of our pressure - too thin for liquid water to last on the surface, though the ground and the poles hold a great deal of ice. It has the largest volcano and the deepest canyon in the Solar System, a day almost exactly as long as ours, and two small captured-looking moons. More working spacecraft are at Mars than at any other planet.
