# New Horizons

*Spacecraft*

Crossed the Solar System in nine years to give humanity its first close look at Pluto, in July 2015, then went on to Arrokoth in the Kuiper belt on New Year's Day 2019 - the most distant object ever visited. It is still working outward, measuring the dust and the faintness of the sky out there.

Distances and speed are computed from JPL Horizons trajectories and are true of 2026-09-05, changing at the rate given beside each. The interpolation itself is good to a few kilometres; what ages these figures is the date, not the arithmetic.

## Path

Open, set by Jupiter in 2007 and past changing. That is why Pluto and Arrokoth were flybys: at 14 km/s there was never fuel enough to stop at either.
