A dark near-Earth asteroid half a kilometre across, here because OSIRIS-REx spent two years at it and returned 122 grams of it to the Utah desert in September 2023 - the largest sample brought back from beyond the Moon. The surface was nothing like the expected beach of gravel: it was strewn with boulders, it threw particles off into space on its own, and the sampling arm sank into it as though into a pit of loose material.
