It is hydrogen and helium with no surface to land on, banded by winds that run for centuries - the Great Red Spot is a storm wider than the Earth that has been watched for some 190 years and is shrinking. Its 90-odd moons include Ganymede, larger than Mercury, and Europa, whose ice covers an ocean.
